My Horses
I currently own 7 horses. I have had several rescues that I either fostered or rescued myself. Any I don't still have are listed with their stories and pictures in the "Animals I have Loved" page. They're all listed in the order in which I got them. The horses on this page are the horses I currently own.

Gunner- Quarter Horse Gelding
Gunner is a 15.1 HH, dun Quarter Horse gelding. He was born in 1998. He was bred to be a roping horse but was too slow out of the start gate. He's big and powerful but his size makes him take a second to get up to speed. He is the second horse I ever owned. I bought him in 2007. He's the horse I put beginners on in the paddock. He's a gentle giant! I take him if I want to ride into town cause traffic doesn't bother him. I've even taken him through the Taco Bell drive through and the bank drive through! He's the horse my oldest son rides. :)

Isis- Arab/Quarter Horse Mare (nonbreeding)
Isis is a 14.2 HH grey Arabian/Quarter Horse cross mare. She was born in 1998 on a dude ranch out west. She lived wild until she was 2 then rounded up and broke hard cowboy style. Because of this, she is nervous when being saddled because they used to kick her in the belly to make her tighten up so they could get the girth tighter. She spent many years in 4H before I got her and won the Indiana State Junior Rodeo Championship in barrel racing several times! She is still recognized by some of the 4H leaders as H.B. (her name before I got her. It stood for "Hell B***h so I changed it.) I bought her in 2009 from the same place I had bought Gunner from. She is so sensitive to her rider you hardly have to use the bit when riding her. I always say she has "power steering" because she neck reins awesome!

Gambit- Tennessee Walker Gelding
Gambit is a 15 HH dark bay and white Tennessee Walker gelding. He was born around 1999. I bought him in 2011 (I think) from a lady who'd only had him for 9 months. She said he was too spirited for her and wanted to go back to calmer Quarter Horses. She had named him Jamaica which didn't suite him at all! I started saying some names to see if he responded to anything and when I said "Gambit" he turned his head and looked at me. I wonder if he thought his name was "Damn it"! LOL! I'm so glad I took the gamble and bought him because he is the horse I enjoy riding the most and Grace loves riding him as well. He is so smooth! I can ride him all day long (if Grace doesn't steal him)! I usually end up taking more pics of him because he is so photogenic and handsome!

Pneuma- Tennessee Walker/Quarter Horse/Haflinger Cross Breeding Mare
Pneuma is a Palomino mare that is half Tennessee Walker although she is not gaited. Her name means "Spirit" in Greek. It is the word used for the Holy Spirit in the Bible. She was born May 12, 2014 to Spirit, a Haflinger/Quarter Horse cross. Her sire is a solid black Tennessee Walker named Ben. Spirit was my first horse and, although the pregnancy and delivery were textbook, Spirit kept colicing after Pneuma was born and after the 3rd time we couldn't save her. Pneuma was 5 weeks old when her mom passed. She was such a good mother, she didn't want to put her head in the water bucket or trough to get a drink because she'd loose sight of her baby which contributed to her colic. Pneuma was taken in by Isis who became her segregate mother and even allowed her to nurse on her even though she was dry! This gave Pneuma the physical and emotional support she needed to develop and thrive. She has her mother's personality, attitude and body shape! ;) Spirit was Grace's horse so I'm hoping Pneuma will be her riding horse as well. I had planned on selling her but when Spirit passed we just couldn't let her go. She's a piece of Spirit and has a special place in all our hearts! She is pregnant by Ghostwind Starfall (Legend) my new Ghostwind Appaloosa stallion!

Raine (Mist Moore Scotch)- APHA Breeding Mare
Raine is a 14.3 HH blue roan solid paint mare. She is registered as Mist Moore Scotch with the American Paint Horse Association. Both her parents are paints but since she doesn't have paint markings, she's considered a "solid paint". She was born on May 12, 2009. I bought her in 2014 from someone who had only had her for 6 months. During that time they had not trimmed her feet other than putting a "mustang roll" on them, which is nothing more than running a file over the toe to round it out. Does nothing in actually trimming the hoof. They had also let a sinus infection fester. She is now doing great and is pregnant by VF Dare to Speckle a black and white APHA grandson of Blue Max!

Storm- Tennessee Walker Gelding
Storm is a bay and white Tennessee Walker/Spotted Saddle Horse gelding. He is Sassy's colt that she had at 12:30am June 28, 2014, same as my youngest's 1st birthday! He's the only foal she ever had. I originally sold him to the owner of his sire, What Luck, but when Sassy passed I contacted him and told him what happened and if he ever decided to sell Storm to let me know. Turns out he had already sold him to the 14 year old girl who had broke him to ride. He in turn let his new owner know and they agreed to sell him back to me. He has grown a LOT! He's almost as tall as Sassy was and will probably reach 16 hands!
