Animals I have Loved
These are animals that have either passed or have moved on to another home and no longer live with us. Some were fosters that had been rescued that I nursed back to health and they found forever homes.
Shade
Shae was a dark bay Quarter Horse gelding that came with the farm when I bought it. He was only green broke and I didn't have the knowledge to train him or the money to send him to a trainer. I had him for a few years and then traded for Casey, another horse.
Will AKA Probably Will
Will was a dark bay OTT (off the track) Thoroughbred senior gelding. He had been starved and was very emaciated when he came to me. He made a wonderful recovery and was adopted.
Rain
Rain was an Appaloosa mare I had for a couple months. The owner had to find a new home due to divorce. I was unable to keep her as she was very dominant and didn't get along with my other horses.
Casey AKA Cassanova
Cassanova "Casey" was a chestnut, flxen Peruvian Paso/Quarter Horse gelding. I traded Shae for him and was told he was a Peruvian Paso. I found out after sending pics of him to breeders that was was NOT a Peruvian but at best a Peruvian/QH mix. He was a very friendly horse but became dangerous when he developed severe buddy sour issues. He would buck if you tried to ride him away from Isis. I had him for sale for a year but couldn't sell him. I was pregnant and could risk him hurting me or my kids, I had no other choice but to take him to auction. I wish I knew how he was doing now.
Sheba (Queen Sheba Nicki's Van Damn)
Sheba was a purebred German Rottweiler my late husband and I bought as a puppy before we had kids. She was his dog so when he passed she became even more special. She helped me navigate with my visual impairment. She helped raise 3 of my 4 kids and I was pregnant with my 4th when she passed. She died in her sleep at 14 years old. A once in a lifetime dog! We will miss you!
Shawnee
Woke up this morning, 11/18/15, to find Shawnee had passed away last night. Shawnee (male, red pitt bull/lab mix) was 13 years old. He was 18 months old when I got him. His original name was Harley but that didn't fit him at all! He was old and had some arthritis but other than that seemed healthy. He was just out running around the yard with me and Phoenix and Zeus like normal. Didn't show any signs of anything being wrong. The necropsy found he had a mass (not cancer) on his spleen that ruptured and he bleed out internally. He said it was about double the size of a golf ball and is common in older dogs. He said sometimes you can repair it with surgery if it's a slow bleed and the owner notices the dog getting lathargic but this one burst and he couldn't have been saved. I asked if his running around playing yesterday could have caused it to ruptor and he said it could have but they can also just spontaniously rupture because they just get so full and tight and he would have bleed out pretty quickly so it probably wasn't from activity and just happened. At least I know it's nothing I could have prevented and nothing contagious to the other dogs and he wasn't in pain. RIP Shawnee! He was such a sweet dog! He loved the kids and let them do anything to him. His only fault was that he couldn't be housebroken, that was the lab in him! He was the perfect alarm system as he only barked if there was a reason! The other dogs bark at anything and nothing but if he barked there was someone here. He will be very missed.
Phoenix
Sassy AKA (Stuntmans Independant Gal)
Sassy is a 15.3 HH black and white registered Tennessee Walker mare who's registered as Stuntman's Independent Gal with the Tennessee Walking Horse Breeders' & Exhibitors' Association (TWHBEA) and the S.S.H.B.E.A. Spotted Saddle Horse Breeders & Exhibitors Association She was born April 6, 2001. I bought her in 2013. She is definitely a man's horse so I let my husband do most of the riding on her! I had her bred to What Luck, a TWH stallion that looked a lot like her, right after I bought her. She had a beautiful dark bay and white colt on June 28, 2014. I named him Storm because there were a lot of real and emotional "storms" going on in my life at the time. In fact, the day he was born, lightening stuck the house! (No damage, we have lightening rods.) The owner of his daddy, What Luck, ended up buying him when he was weaned. Sassy was a good mother for being her first time. :) She is the biggest of all my horses and even the vet had to measure her twice because we swore she was at least 16 HH! I'm excited to take her on trail rides this summer and she how she does. She and Gambit make a nice pair!
11/24/17- Sassy had to be put down due to massive infection resulting from being shot by a 22 from an unknown source.

Epona (Epona King Triton's Mercy)
Epona (Epona King Triton's Mercy) (registered female tan brindle Anatolian Shepherd) born Oct 4, 2012. OFA hip certification rating is "Good". They're hard to find around here so we had to drive to KY to get her! Anatolian's are livestock guardian dogs. I originally got her to guard the horses from thieves and the foals from coyotes but she had no interest in staying in the field with the horses. "Epona" was a horse guardian goddess. So when I got goats I moved her into the more escape proof goat pen so now she protects the goats from coyotes. She came from Clear Creek Farm in KY.
Epona passed on June 23, 2018 at only 5 1/2 years old after suffering massive internal injuries from being hit by a car. She had been an indoor dog since she and Athena no longer got along but she learned how to push the front door open. The night of the 22nd she opened the door and ran right out into the road and was hit hard and thrown over 60 feet! We rushed her immediately to an emergency vet hospital where we found she had internal bleeding, several fractured ribs, a fractured hip, bruising to her lungs, and a ruptured bladder. They tried to get her stable enough to go into surgery to stop the bleeding but when they tried to put her under her heart stopped. They were able to bring her back and she seemed to be doing better but then started going downhill again. They gave her a blood transfusion but without being able to do surgery it pretty much served to keep her going till we could get there to say our goodbyes and let her go. She was a good guard dog but her lust for escaping was her downfall.
